Not weird at all, since water backup can feed down the vents, and the lowest vents in your car....
...are the ones under the front seats that aim right at the rear footwells.

Yep! And I was amazed at the amount that got back there. I went to drive..
...and heard this "swoosh" of water shifting.
Right away I thought "oh, this can't be good".
But after investigating it, found the source.

ok this is interesting. i think i might actually have a hole instead or something to that effect...
the water i cleaned out last night was soapy. which was from the car wash. now i have to see if there is some hole or cover dislodged. and there is no water in the vents

I can almost guarantee if you pull up the front carpet it is soaking wet under there. I had the same problem, cleand out drain under battery, it didn't help. I am pretty sure the water was coming in thru the pollen filter. The plastic at the base of the windshield was separating from the glass. Since I did not want to spend the $$$ to replace it, I put clear silicone along the base of the windshield and this seems to have fixed it.

Hmmm, there are some "plugged" holes in the floor pans...
...I can't remember where, as mine are all covered with Dynamat.
How about pulling up the back seat bottom, taking the plastic door sill off, and lifting the carpet back there a bit?
It still may be that the car wash water came in from the front through the vents that go under the seat, and the water dried up quickly in the vents.
