Default how is this audi a6 2.7T

hi,

I am going to bid for a 2004 Audi A6 2.7T with 91000 mileages. The kbb price is around USD 12000 for an excellent condition under the private deal.

Do you guys think 11000 is a good price for this car? BTW, I was often heard that the maintain cost of A6 is rather expensive. If I do not know how to maintain using by my own hands, the dealer shop will murder me soon. Is this rumor true?

thanks
Qi

Go 10,000 he cant be picky at times like these. He's luck he even has an interested buyer. Here in Az, there are more Audi's for sale than ever and still after months no one buys them.

Best buying tip: Take the car to a local Audi Mechanic, if you there isnt a Audi shop than take it to a European Shop if still nothing there take it to your local Audi Dealership and GET IT INSPECTED. I took my A6 for inspection and found a few things wrong that I otherwise wouldn't have known. Also do a compression test if you are that serious about it. Its a great car, just wanna make sure its in a great condition and has been maintained. Ask the owner if he has any maintenance records also..

Thanks. That is a good advice.

The bad thing is that its timing belt needs replacement as the mileages is close to 100K now, which would cost another 1600USD in PA.

If the shop or whatever or who ever is charging you alot for timing belt, water pump and stuff.. Check out places like www.purems.com they have the timing belt kit with all the stuff for pretty cheap. They are a quality place also. I dont recommend doing it yourself as its very complicated and hard for new people.

Are you for sure buying the car or just interested in it?

Used car prices are up according to BLS statistics. People wont buy new cars. Maybe expensive, fussy cars ( liek this) have fallen, but "tiems like this" are good for used car pricing.

You should offer him $9,000

I purchased an Sline with 65K three months ago for $11K with an extra set of wheels that i sold for $1000 so the car turned out to be $10,700 after tax.

like many other folks have said, times are tough; offer $9k so you guys can maybe settle for $9500

A blauparts TB kit will set you back about $400 and shop labor should be 6 hours. A dealer is probably $125/hr but a good indie shop should be in the $70-80/hr range. Getting the car inspected is a must -- if it has been well taken care of you have peace of mind, otherwise you negotiate down the price to cover the repairs. Transmission work is horribly expensive. Otherwise basic maintenance and general repairs are not too out of line if you can find a local shop that works on Audis. Dealers do a good job (in general), but you pay for the privilege.

E.g., my alternator failed around 65k miles and 200 miles from home. The local dealer wanted $600 for the part and $500 to install. I convinced him to install a remanufactured unit ($200) and paid his brutal rate for the labor -- no choice. My local shop at home was $65/hr compared to his $125, so if I could have driven it home I would have saved another $240. The car is at 140k and that alternator is doing fine. I also have had few other problems and am running all OEM suspension, shocks, battery, etc. Only other repair was a clutch and flywheel at 90k.

Thanks for all the above kind advices.

Unfortunately, I can only get a deal of USD 10800 for this car. Maybe I am not good at negotiating, or maybe the car price in state college (happy valley) is generally higher than other places.

I am still holding my money. But I am hesitating now.
