How to change engine soft code?
I had a 2002 A6 4.2Q with 5 speed Tip gearbox and I would like to put in a 6 speed manual gearbox. I trying to change the engine soft code by using the VAG-COM but it seems that the ECU does not allow me to recode it. Is anyone can help me on this? Many thanks.

Are you in the middle of changing the tranny?
Know of a S4 that did this out here, ran into big problems, finally got it done, but it was a nightmare. You might inquire with AMS-ask for Marc the owner.

you should sell the old tranny to someone here. Then they can have level10 work on it
get it too 800lbs, so now superchargers can be done LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AHHH the Madness!!!!
How cool would that be, a SC A6 4.2 475HP, 450lbs on the mild side. Kind of a mini RS6 version

Thanks a lot for your infor. I am just planning to do it but I want to make sure everythink OK before placing an order for all parts. I will now reconsider it....

really??? Supercharge for 4.2 V8 and upgrade the Tip gearbox??? Can you give me somemore detail?

Re: Does the tranny bolt up?? How far into the install are you?
only preparing stage!!! I am still driving my car with the existing 5 speed Tip gearbox. All parts still not purchase yet.
