Default how deep should these seals be installed ?

These are seals I have replaced back in November, 07, and they started to leak, I don't know if I inserted too deep or too shallow, recommendations ?

Passenger side camshaft seal had very little leak

Default If you had polished the shaft in the sealing contact area, depth wouldn't make much difference....

But DF what AB! A can of snake oil every 100K eliminates the problem.

Default Q-tip cleaning is normally insufficient, inasmuch as the old seal will have slightly....

worn and polished its shaft contact ring and the new seal will not contact the shaft exactly the same, and potently will leak. The why of not replacing seals unnecessarily. If I must replace a rotary shaft seal I will always polish the shaft area with 600 grit paper, thus giving the new seal a new surface to adapt to.
DFI if IAB !

Default Now a completely off topic question for you-

you have a link for Dortmund in you sig- why? I spent 3.5 weeks there for work a few years ago and loved it (worked at Elmos). Interesting to see it as a link- pretty small town.

Would love to go back someday.
