how to disconnect shifter linkage on 6 speed?

Default how to disconnect shifter linkage on 6 speed?
I have the exhaust and drive shaft out of the way and opened up the boot, but I can't see how to disconnect the 2 linkages from below. Do I have to go through the top on this car? 2001 A6 2.7t.

Nevermind.. its called walk over to the bench, open the brand new Bentley manual you haven't even really used at all to pull this motor and flip to section 34 "Transmission"....
