Default How do I know which BOSE System I have....

...in my 99.5 A6Qtipw [w = wimpy: A previously undefined nomenclature recently brought to my attention that I feel all 2.8s should add from now on ]

How do I tell if I have the stock "140 watt 8-speaker premium sound system with subwoofer located in trunk" or the "Audio Package: 200w Bose premium 8-speaker sound system with subwoofer located in trunk, 6-disc CD changer ".

I have the 6 disc CD changer in the trunk, does that automatically make it the 200 watt system, or is there something else I should look for?

Default Also when you first turn the system on it will say Bose before displaying frequency

Assumng that the radio is correctly coded to enable the Bose functionality

Default Eh...I like it...worth $750??? eh...maybe...just depends on what one wants...

I prefer the Bose to the non-Bose...but I only spent 5 minutes in a showroom listening to a non-Bose...so I didn't really have much to compare it to...but since it was infinitely better than the stereo in my Integra or Outback, it was worth the $750 (plus, the car was on the boat already headed my way with the Bose anyway)...

It all depends on one's ear...what one hears and likes...
I am a NON-Audiophile...and I like...and I'm PROUD!!!

Default My 2 cents, my partner has A4 2.8 with non bose and the difference...

is huge, the non bose is OK but I could not live with it after having the Bose in both my 2.7 and also in the Merc C280 before that.

Default Ok, now I'm confused. Speakers have 4 ring emblem and say BOSE ...

... on each door's speaker cover. The in-dash unit (with cassette and CD) reads AUDI Symphony on the cassette door, but display does not read BOSE during initial on - just the frequency.

Default There are different head units, "Symphony" and "Concert," I believe....

The Symphony has a vertical row of double rectangular buttons on left and right, and has an in-dash CD player.

Sounds like you have the previous one, the "Concert" if I recall correctly.

The Symphony comes in Bose and non-Bose flavors, but they are actually the same unit, just with an internal code set one way or another. I'm not sure if the Concert had the same way of setting Bose and non-Bose.

If you have Bose, you'll know it. The speakers have the logo, and probably the head unit will announce BOSE when you fire it up.

I don't find the Bose all that much better than non-Bose. It is better, but not better enough to be very good. But I have familiarity with very high quality reproduction, so I hear the problems easily.
