My approach too...although I have two jacks and two sets of stands. Was worth the extra $$ to me. My wife jacks up one side of the rear while I do the other.

Default Now with jack point pics!

i'd need to crawl under and check, btu as i recall there are several places to jack from, front and rear. A good point is typically where the control arms bolt to the sub=frame. That HAS to be strong. Make sure you get the most serious piece of metal of course, not the control arm!

Now, how do i insert pics here? <== found out!!

Now, see below. note that the creator of this pic suggests the diff. If you look between the diff and the jackpoints noted, you see where the control arms meet the frame - a reinforced place. That must be strong. What you want to watch for is that you don't place the jackstand, or jack, such that it concentrates its pressure on a small edge. PSI = force/area. As area --> small; PSI --> large.

Hockey pucks help. $1/ea

best, cheapest and easiest to store would be 4 good jackstands. IMNSHO.

best would be a small lift :-) I want one!

i have never used the diff, but several people have told me that it is a solid place to jack from.

Yeah, I've often thought that seemed like a good place. If I post pics, I'm pretty sure click the manage attachments button below

Well I got it all done, put the car on ramps, then went and got a bottle jack from Sears for $13! A sale was going on or something...Jacked up one side a bit, then with my floor jack the other side. Then went back and put one side all the way up, then the other side. Worked great, and the trans fluid, filter and gasket change was a piece of cake.

Next up...How the hell can I get the pressure hoses straight off the turbos?!
