Default How long can I drive with a bad Throw out bearing?

I feel a slight vibration if I depress the clutch pedal. I only feel it for the first 1/2 inch off the floorboard. If the pedal is all the way down, I dont feel it, only when i start to release the pedal. Thanks

Until the clutch doesn't engage anymore?

Default Does that typically happen in a few days, weeks, months, I just want to know how long I can expect

before I have to pay for that major job.

From your description, your pressure plate or clutch plate may be going. How many miles on it?

Default Unless you're VERY hard on a clutch, I doubt you have a release bearing going out (unless it was...

defective). If it is the bearing, it could take some time before it totally seizes or fails. I would "watch" it carefully for signs of deteriation beyond what you're experiencing now. When it feels really bad, then it is probably time to have the transaxle removed, inspect the clutch assembly, and replace if necessary.

Default Vibration on take-up in clutch pedal travel is mopre likely....

end float on the crank.

It is rare to feel it on the V6's but I guess anything is possible.

Try feeling the clutch on a golf GT Tdi PD130, it is very obvious as it is on quite a few of the VAG in-line fours.

Usually a worn/faulty thrust/throw out bearing will be noisy before you feel anything.

In terms of replacing it, if it is the bearing and it is that bad you can feel a vibration from it, I would say it is urgent towards gettuing it done in the next couple of weeks. If it end-float, don't bother - it means sump off and new main bearing shells, possibly on just the centre bearing.
