Default How much h/p is too much on the auto (tip)???

Ok, I was thinking about getting a apr chip/down pipes/diverter/and full exhaust.
the chip bounces the hp up to 318 (apr) at the wheels.
How much is too much for the auto tranny? ANyone have any idea out there. Also, does the apr chip for the tip trans really help? Anyone know if the dealer can detect a chip (apr claims its undetectable unless removed and inspected). I have some warrenty left, want to be able to use it if I have to.

Default no problems yet.....

Does APR make a tip chip now? I have a Giac, and it does make a difference, the tranny does much less banging and is more responsive and shifts faster without the hesitation. The HP is not the problem, it's the torque that the tranny can't take. You will be on the upper limits so I wouldn't run it full open in the low gears too often. I try not too but still do.

wouldnt go more than 310 ft/lb torque unless you have a spare tranny.

Default It's more about torque and just installing a chip should not cause a problem. With

that said, if you flog the crap out of it daily, good luck to you!

Default There is no black and white number as there are many variables but

one would assume there's a reason why Audi used a stouter transmission with the V8s. Its not about exceeding a certain value as much as it is proportions of time spent at the higher torque loads, the duty cycle, so to speak. I have no doubt that you could chip it, drive it reasonably hard but prudently and not have a problem, or not leave it stock, abuse it and trash it.
