Default How much should it cost to get the timing belt and gasket changed?

I just bought an 01 A6 2.7T and I have never owned an Audi before and was wondering how much I should expect to pay for the timing belt and gaskets to be changed? Any advice would be great, thanks!

Default If you mean "full TB service"

1,600 to 1,800* could be less if you find a good indy.

Just a bit of advise when I say full service, do it not just the belt and what ever gasket you are asking about because if the job is that far into the front of the engine the water pump, thermostat, idle and tensioner pulley, crank shaft seal, timing and accessory belt should be done at the same time.

*service rates vary in different states.

Well I haven't checked it out yet but the car is leaking oil and I have done some research of what I need to look at. But yeah I was talking about a full service TB, so you think that it might be around 1,600 - 1,800 for all that work? The water pump, thermostat, idle and tensioner pulley, crank shaft seal (with might be the leak problem), timing and accessory belt (1600-1800)?
And I'm located in TN, if you know any good shops.

IMHO, any timing belt service should include all cam-related seals (cam seals, cam adjuster seals, cam plugs). That's where your leak is.

So 4driver4 you think the leak is from those seals? And any timing belt maintenance should fix it? Does 1600 to 1800 sound like a reasonable ballpark to you?

Keep in mind that very few people, especially shops, will automatically replace those seals.

Your range sounds stupid expensive, but in line with what I have heard that people pay for this work.

Also need to check out the condition of the PCV system. The 2.7t is notorious for clogging it up and when it does oil leaks form. All those new gaskets and seals will leak again in no time if the PCV system isn't working properly. Make sure you also have the new updated venting oil cap as well.

I have an 02 S6 and have been shopping around TN for some shops/quotes too. The best I've found by far is European Auto Garage in Knoxville. They quoted me at 1600.

There's a place called Tiedts Automotive in Madison, TN. That's the only place i'll take my car besides the dealership. He's replaced a power stage unit and a timing belt, both were below 1200 and never kept the car longer than 3-4 days
