How often to use fuel additives, and which?
Do they really do anything? I've done many searches and people seem to like to use them, the chevron techron concentrate is popular.

i just used Werth Sabego from ECS, i was ordering from them anyway so
i got a bottle. i haven't gone thru the tank of gas yet with it, but i'll let you know if see any big results.

Fuel additives
First, you have to distinguish between additives and their purposes. About the only reason to use one, and VW group does (or did) recomend it, is to clean the fuel system and remove carbon buildup. Dry gas and octane additives are a different story - generally not needed.
The two best regarded carbon removers are techron and BG44. Both work well. Use about 1/yr. Add to full tank and run close to empty.
Most other additives are snake oil. VW/Audi does sell one under the autobahn brand.
Its OK.

^^^quattro^^^ But I put it in the tank prior to the oil change.
I also change brands of fuel on occasion to get different detergents. Usually change between Shell, Exxon and Chevron.
