What are you getting with a 2.8 engine for mileage on the highway...not as stated by the trip computer but rather, by dividing miles by gallons at the pump? I am only getting 22MPG and I would think it should be more like 27 or 28.

26.5 to 27.25. All reasonably steady pace (70-75mph) hiway w/air-con. Averaged 26.75 for the entire trip, which included 3 trips over the Road to the Sun, and several side-trips into the park.
2.7T/6-speed. Montana has 91 octane, Washington and Idaho have 92.

... and I get 20-21 in my S6.
I cant say for a modern 2.8. My old 1995 2.8 4 speed does no better than you, although it should.

In June I drove our 99 avant home from Phoenix and averaged 27.2 (dividing miles by gallons) on the 100% highway stretch between Gallup, NM and Walsenburg, CO.
City driving, the 2.8 gets ~21mpg.

70-80. Key to good mileage is being smooth. I don't doubt his figures at all. A tight draft might boost it even more. No bump drafting though..
