Published figures would put those cars neck and neck in a drag race. When I drove the M35x....
...I found it to be quite "athletic" overall, but with way too much engine and tire noise for my tastes. I also didn't care much for the interior, but there was no question that the car was pretty quick.

With foot to the floor, it should hold 1st to redline even without the 00032 recode.
The recode lets you hold first with part throttle, rather than experiencing the econo-upshift.

The cars may weigh the same and the A6 has more power but the drivetrain losses in the AWD are far worse than RWD.
Correst me if I'm wrong but the losses are something like..
RWD manual 15%
RWD Auto 20%
AWD Auto 25%
