Default I hate that I keep posting questions like this...

On my 01 4.2 I have been chasing down an EVAP CEL. I have done all the "easy stuff" short of putting a new N80(EVAP control valve)in. So since I have replaced the gas cap, and the vacuum lines I figured its that valve. Last night though I was filling up and I realized that my car doesn't make that hissing/vacuum sound when I take off the cap. So since this CEL only comes on when the car is idle at red lights could I have some kind of leak in the tank? Maybe the neck from the tank to the spout? Tried seaching but found no real info. Audi had that recall for the gas tanks, but it doesn't apply to the A6 4.2. Thanks all

Default You are overthinking the problem...only two things left...charcoal cannister & <more>

the purge valve. You will likely have to replace both to get rid of the code on a permanent basis. You can replace the purge valve and it will go away for awhile but a bad charcoal cannister will cause your new purge valve to fail. Bite the bullet and replace both. And once that's done NEVER NEVER NEVER fill your tank beyond the first click at the gas pump. It's overfilling your tank that causes the charcoal cannister to go bad. And although you may not be doing this when you fill up I would guess you are not the original owner of an 01 so I would bet someone else has been doing it and for alot of years.

Default Vag code is 16825...Generic is P0441...

EVeryone I talk to says its one of a few things. The thing that get me the most about it is that it only happens at idle. Never when driving, its completely unpredictable. I can go hundreds of miles with it or reset it and get it later that day. I guess thats why I have been hoping it was something easy. It seems like its vacuum related. I don't think I could get this warrantied.
