I learned this morning that there's only one thing worse than watching your A6 get crunched...

And that's watching it get crunched by another Audi.
I was on 20th St. in Center City, Philadelphia, following a set of Mapquest directions (first mistake - relying on Mapquest). "Turn left at Market St.," Mapquest said, except that there was a big "no left turn" sign at the intersection. I go through the intersection, see nothing coming in the opposite direction (and I mean NOTHING) so I slow down, think about it, shrug and start to swing left into a U-Turn (second mistake, all mine). Out of no where, there's suddenly a 2.7T Allroad going in my direction but to my left. In other words, the other guy got pissed that I had slowed down and crossed over the double yellow line to pass me (third mistake - the other guy, proving that there were two knuckleheads driving Audis in the same place and at the same time).
CRUNCH! My front left corner into his front right corner. I suffered worse damage. Fender is shot; driver's door is shot, won't even close; newly refinished rim badly marred and brand new tire gouged; tire angled out (can you say "suspension damage"?). He was driving his wifey's new CPO, in a rush because he was late picking up his buddy for the Iggles game (one more reason to hate the Iggles). He had front fender damage, a bent rim and a flat tire, but his front right door didn't get touched.
Consolations: no one was hurt, no air bags deployed, we ultimately each conceded our own knuckleheadedness and were up front with the cop. Our reward for that was no citations issued, even though we each deserved one.
I let him use my cell phone, we shook hands and both Audis ended up being flatbedded to the same shop (anyone know anything about Automax Collision, on Oregon St.?).
Rented a car (Buick, ugh!) to drive back to north Jersey.
Now its time to start drinking.
