Default My last ride was a '98 Jetta TDI for the long commute

However, there is nothing like mashing the petal at 6 mpg!!!!! I've often thought my next commute car will be a Jetta or Passat TDI. Good Luck!

Default Also did the same thing...

and got a Jetta TDI Wagon. I did have both for about a year, but sold the 2.7t to my nephew, because I didn't drive it much and he really wanted it. I do sometimes miss the strong pull of the Audi.

Diesel fuel here in the Bay Area is in the low $2.30's. I sure hope that the high fuel prices inspire AoA to bring some of their excellent TDI's over here. The low end torque of these engines is quite amazing!

Default How do you like teh fact that you will need to do your timing belt at 30k?

how much does Diesel cost in your area? Here (vermont) it's actually MORE than high test gasoline right now..

Default I woulda had a TDI for my current commute, except not available in California

The A4 is a decent alternative, though - I get near 30 mpg usually (vs 20 on the A6), and with the mods it's a nice daily driver for my 40 mile commute down Topanga and PCH
