I need new pads and rotors at 4ooo miles!?
Just had my first 6month service on my '01 2.7.
They switched my summer tires for my winter tires changed the oil and off I went. Immediately noticed terrible driver front vibration. Figured they lost a balance magnet or something minor I take the car back and am told I need new brake pads AND rotors all around.I just turned 4000
miles of definately non enthusiastic driving. We had 150 " of snow since I bought the car in October. Has anyone else had this problem? Is this a case of rusty rotors from being shipped over? Car drove perfectly with my Blizzaks.

Doesn't make sense to me...
Not the pad/rotor replacement, since some have gone bad (crumbling pads, warped or cracked rotors, etc) but rather that they're replacing brakes as a result of the vibration? Naah, that isn't right. Especially since the car drove fine before your summer tires went on. Botched/incomplete tire change.

Re: go to the dealer, they will replace them under the warranty.had the same problem at 7000 miles.
It was the Audi dealer that told me I needed brakes so warranty not an issue. I think I'm going
to really like the 48 month Audi warranty and paid for scheduled maintainance!

Just had my front brakes and rotors replaced at 5600 miles...
They broke apart and actually pieces stuck to the rotors. No reason given and I do not drive her hard yet. All covered by warranty at dealer. Looking forward to replacing them after warranty with what Muhammad is using... Also changed the oil (UA uses Chevron 5W30). Will change to Mobile 1 at 10K service. UA did good service work and replaced blown 15 amp fuse for my heated steering wheel.

I asked them if it was true that the wheel in late 01 is supposed to be heated...
they said yes and then I made an appointment to have mine replaced. Took them all day and then it did not work after a while (blew a 15 amp fuse). I checked for the fuse but did not find it... Just got the car back from my 5K service and that is when they found the blown fuse... Of course it is now warm out and the heat is not really needed... It does not get very warm however... Only works when you turn the seat temp up high...

The steering wheel has only one temperature...
that turns on whenever the driver's seat is on at any level. It typically gets pretty "hot" for the first couple minutes then cools down a bit a remains a constant sort of "luke warm" temp after that. Several others have confirmed this is typical. How does it feel to be almost the only one in America with a 2.7T and a heated wheel?

I needed new pads and rotors at 5ooo and at 12,000 miles!
I found they replaced the rotors only the first trip. Did they not think it would damage the pads if the rotors went bad? If you have this problem, replace it all!
