... but the idle seems smoother. I used the basic Chevron Techron product, filled the tank to half, and ran it to (near) empty. (Scary low-fuel warning.) I use Chevron gas, so theoretically, I should be getting the cleaning as I drive.
It's interesting that the product says to use it with up to 12 gallons of gas--which means that you should not fill your tank. I wonder how many people really heed those directions. If you fill up, you dilute the solution's effect. Although it is common sense, the product also does not tell you to run that half-tank down as far as possible (because once you re-fill, you dilute the solution, and the treatment is effectively over).
I recommend it as a cheap possible fix to those with lumpy idle problems.

I used Techron recently too in my 2.7T. I didn't notice any difference in the idle, but before the treatment, the car would chug under WOT. Afterwards, smoooth! BTW, our prior Audi was an '87 5000Q!

I had the dealer install new injectors at 25K and had lots of power
after that fix. The dealer did say my injectors were clogged a bit (BTW, I only use high test). Further more they said I probably got a tank of bad gas (low octane) which helped clog the injectors.
The injector cleaner that you add to 12 gals of gas really means you should buy TWO cans and add both/almost both to a full tank. Thus they make more money...

free alternate way to clean injectors
After the car has warmed up normally, drive at 100mph in 4th gear for 10minutes.
Engine heat and high rpms should shake loose anything clogging injectors and then burn it up.

not your imagination-->
I use Chemtools Total Fuel System cleaner every 3k, and Chemtools Fuel injection System cleaner every 3 tanks. I find that this stuff works better than the Techron formulas, it's also a bit cheaper.

I did that coupla months ago
on I-10, once you're east of Palm Springs it gets fairly desolate until you get to Indio.
Use at own risk, YMMV. I enjoyed it a lot but it didn't help the car. My A6 was just a carbonizing fiend! Had to have it cleaned out at each 6 month service.
