Wow, gas guzzler hurts.
That puts that thing near S6 territory. You could definately get a certified S6 for that money.

Yes, but you can't get an S6 with a 6-speed manual or the more sorted suspension of the A4 line.
On the other hand, the S6 suspension is pretty damn well sorted as-is (even more so with the H-Sport's installed!), and you get the nice interior of the A6 plus adult sized seats in the back as well as the front.
Presented with the choice, all things being equal...I believe I'd take the S6. A test drive might prove me wrong...but from what I know about the two cars, I think it'd be S6.
For about $53K (well, a bit more, actually) I'd sell my '03 S6 with 8,500 miles to the first applicant.

I've driven both...
S4 is obviously quicker and more nimble but the S6 is a beast in itself.
I would rather buy a used S6 and get a 100K mile warranty than spend the same or maybe even more on an S4 Avant.
I'm not in the market for either, just blabbing.

I've been saying it all along. The S4 Avant is a mini S6 without the....
alcantara headliner and an available 6 spd. It is nothing "new" just previously available pieces and parts in a different package.

Ernesto: You're too late and about $9K short
They were delivering it to a customer last Thursday and sold it for $1K off sticker. (I'm glad its gone. My fiance kept looking for her favorite "estate wagon" every time we were there!? She was really taken by that S6; not enough to trade in her TT!)

For a second there I thought you picked it up. Glad it found a new home, becuase it was too tempting
Ernst did say you and your fiance were "looking" at it. It is the nicest exterior/interior combo of any S6 that I've seen. After my 75k mile service I went home and played with some #'s...... but decided with my head instead of my heart... for once.
BTW Jim- you going to ALMS at Laguna? Want to caravan down? Not that my weak 2.7T will be able to keep up.....
