I just received my tranny, and motor mounts in the mail this am, and this weekend they get replaced. I have not been able to find any articles, or threads on any step by step procedure, so I am under the assumption that the simplicity of the procedure does not warrant any DIY articles. If anyone has run into any complications with this replacement, please feel free to let me know.

For the trans, support/lift it enough to r/r the mount. Piece of cake.

That was it. Very easy. I was unable to remove the right side motor mount though. The other three mounts took about 20 minutes. The right side access to the top nut on the motor mount is inaccessible. There is so much structure around it, I would rather wait until I find a proper write up, so that I'm not pulling everything out unnecessarily.

And BTW, that's what you have do to get to the oil cooler coolant leak due to a broken coolant transfer pipe when it happens.

Same alternator, mileage, service limit on the alternator on a 2.7T? Front of my car is apart while I sort out some busted parts, I could do this while I'm at it.

Now that's what I was looking for. Very good information, thank you. The coolant tube your speaking of, is that the metal line that crosses the entire front of the car, and ties into the oil filter housing?

IMHO, yes. Alternator is an alternator, Bosch was about 140k. On my Audi v8 I even looked at the brushes and they were shorter than 5mm. since you have the alt out...it's real EZ to take out the voltage regulator and look.

No. It's a 3" x 3/4" approx plastic bit inside the oil cooler assembly. Takes awhile to get out, don't do it until it leaks. You can see the new billet aluminum pipe with two O-rings on the oil cooler cover..it's a Bufkin Engineering aftermarket part.
