Default inactivated remote key

OK, just for laughs today I tried to see if the 00 4.2A6Q could be unlocked with the remote key while the engine is running (using the second key) with the door locked. The idea came up when a friend of mine who works at a liquor store had a lady come in who left her car running, locked, with a kid in the back seat...she figured she could unlock the car with the key fob.

Well, it can't. Not a problem in my case cuz I unlocked the door manually with the other key.

Now the problem...the remote won't work...car doors won't lock/unlock with the buttons.

I tried to reset them using the stated manual procedure...i.e., push button A or C and within one minute lock or unlock the driver's door manually with the key. No luck.

Anyone have any ideas how to reset this thing or is it a dealer task?

Default Never mind...got it fixed

It was MORE than simply pushing button A or C and then locking the door.

I had to treat each remote as if they were new ones and recode the units to the car.

So, DON'T try to use a remote while the car is running!
