Just wondering how many others out there have bought the short shifter and what they thought of the results (positive or negative). Also, did you install yourself and if so, how difficult was it?
Thanks for you input!

It's a pain (scraped knuckles) to install. The first time it took about 35 minutes. It is absolutely worth it. Shifting is much better now.

Any comment on the possibility of increased sychromesh wear or other wear & tear on the transmission parts?? If none, why doesn't Audi install such a thing as "standard issue"?
I have the 6 speed and am pleasantly surprized by the feeling of the shifter given the number of opinons I've seen here about it being "rubbery" and "disconnected". But I still have the UCC thingy in the back of my mind as a potential future improvement.... but, I worry.

I installed it a couple of months ago and have been really happy with the improvement in shifting feel.
It took me a total of 2 hours, but that included getting tools together, doing the install, test driving the car as part of the adjustment procedure, and putting the UUC sticker on the driver side rear window :-)
The only regret I have is that I didn't install it in the 40% position (I was concerned about shifting forces, so chose 30%).
My wife loves it too, she's expressed some interest in having me install a UUC short shifter on her BMW (unfortunately the installation procedure is much more complex on a BMW, requiring access to below the car among other difficulties).
