dude LCD units fade in the heat.... live in az, in car temps of over 125, screen is faded and gross.... 10 min, ac on mac, scren starts unfading, when the car finally cools to a normal temp (sub 90) screen is fine... fall winter spring no problems.... i say deal with it, 160 to get the screen to not fade in the heat is money wasted in my opinion

The reason the screen fades in heat is due to poor soldering on the ribbon cable that breaks down over time. Once it starts it will just get worse and worse. Whether it's money well spent or money wasted depends on the individual. The screen was dying when I bought my car, it was the first thing I had repaired because not being able to read it a glance was driving me nuts. I also had it replaced with a full OEM screen instead of an Asian market import so it was more than $160, but to me it was money very well spent.
