Intake Runner Valve Ball Socket
Hello everyone. I discovered one of my intake runner valve arms was snapped and figured it would be no problem to find some ball sockets with which I could rig up my own connector arm. Unfortunately I have had absolutely no luck finding such a small ball-socket, even looking at hobby shops, etc.
I have seen in previous posts some fabricated arms which have such ball sockets connected with threaded rod. Anyone know where to get these?
Thanks,
Charlie

Those plastic linkages generally snap because the runner valve/rod is frozen underneath the arms where the arm connects to the runner valve. If you cannot actuate the arm easily and it doesn't snap back in place when you let go, the valve/rod is frozen and needs to be freed up or the manifold replaced.
I've had to replace three manifolds on my 2K4.2A6 and the 02S6. First one on the 2K4.2A6 was under warranty around 40K miles. Second one on the same car at about 130K miles. Third one on the S6 at 70K miles.
Do not just replace the linkage ***** nilly.
I read somewhere where someone removed the arms on the runner valve rods and cleaned up the corrosion underneath, reattached the arms, and all was well. There is an argument that this should be done as PM every 40-50K miles. LOTS cheaper than $1600 for a new manifold.
