Interior light flashing? what does it mean?

I have a 2001 Audi A6, yesterday someone left the right rear window open and water got inside the car as it rained all night.
Now when I start the car, the interior light would start flashing and now somehow I can not shift out of park.
I think the electrical wiring is damaged as there was a puddle of water in the rear floor area. Anyone know what could be damaged?
I managed to get rid of all the water and plan to put in a small portable heater tomorrow to dry the interior.
any other suggestions?
Thanks
Ed

There are a bunch of unprotected (against water) connections under the carpet. Also, there are several controllers, one of which being the central locks/convenience controller.
Getting the car dried out immediately is paramount. The BEST thing to do is remove the carpet and clean/replace any affected connectors. The controller might have been affected, too. :/

It turned out that my transmission control module was soaked in water and needs to be replaced. The dealer quoted over $1500 for the part. Does anyone know where to get one for less? may be refurbished? thanks Ed
