Default Interior lights won't turn off, no open door light

Get in the car after work (01 A6 4.2) and the interior lights won't shut off, but there is no door indicator chime. I guess I'm assuming that if the switch mechanism in the door is shot that the door will appear on the service indicator screen.

I've done the searching and found a bypass, but that was for the headlight indicator chime.

I would look for broken wires in the rubber interconnect tube in the door jam. I have found this to be the problem in several other Honda, why not Audi. Open and closing the door makes them brittle in older cars.

Do you have chime when you open the door?

Good idea to investigate wires in the boot between thesoor and the frame of the car. Mine shorted in the rear door, out of all places.

I pulled the switch for the trunk release, and now three trips later, no issues. Interior lights work as supposed to, and trunk is staying closed.

If nothing happens in the next few days, I'm stuffing the harness in the hole and pushing the switch back in disconnected. I never use the button anyway, so it's no real loss

Thanks for the input on this one.
