Ended up wiring a plug and wire to the back of my stereo.
Not that I listen to it - but hubby needs something to fiddle with when he isn't driving ;-)

mine works great. I live in the Boston area and it's rock solid on the default 87.9 station everywhere I drive. I had a road trip down to Philly and it cut out only twice during the whole trip and not for very long.
I like the ability to move between my two cars with my music. Worked great during a business trip in a rental car, and with the boom box during a cookout this weekend.
Sorry it's not working for you, but I'm happy with it.

I have an itrip... in a major city (DAllas, San antonio) I easily try over 10, mayber 15, 16 stations, but as a result I usually get a very clear broadcast (ipod volume about 70%).... Remember ALL FM transmitters have a "tinny" sound quality... not just the itrip. If you have a cassette deck, the CD to casseste converters are superior sound wise, and approach RCA type connection if done well.
Both are neccessary options vs hardware installation if you are leasing your car or you are paranoid about voiding warranties as I am

the rental Taurus - I'd occasionally pick up static from what appeared to me to be external electrical sources (power lines, etc.) Seemed odd to me, as I've used the same unit here in Boston without incident, and with good sound quality.
Think a different I-Trip would help?
