Initial Quality tells jack about reliability of the parts
If you consider what the numbers mean, most of these vehicles are very close to one another.
For example, 119 defects per 100 cars from brand X will be higher than 121 defects per 100 cars from brand Z.
These numbers are so close that ranking one above the other is pretty much pointless.
A much better survey would be for a 3 or 5 year old vehicle.
