Just did the 605 mod, my thoughts
#11
I felt the same way at first...
...and, in fact, I believe I wrote the same type of post back when I first did it.
Now, I couldn't stand the thought of putting it back in. I don't find low speed steering to be difficult at all, it's just what you're used to.
I can feel a heaviness when the car is standing still, say in a parking spot, and I turn the wheel, but as soon as the wheel rolls, it's fine.
My recommendation to you is to leave it as is, you'll get used to it.

I've had it removed for the past 8 months or so...
I'm by no means a powerful guy, and I have never felt that it took excessive effort to maneuver the A6 without it. A 92 Civic without p/s that a friend needed me to help her parallel park, however, was a different story. Had me whimpering and icing down my upper body! Don't take offense, man. None intended. You'll get used to it and love it like most everyone here has.

Keep in mind that servotronic is the "variable" part of the power steering
The power doesn't go away, it's just that it's set to the very lowest setting without the servotronic relay.
A little Civic with no power steering would be harder to steer. My first car, an '86 Golf did not have power steering and it was a PITA to parallel park.

I have put my 605 on a switch, so I can have it either way. I switch it off 99.5% of the time.
The overboost of the 605 is nice for tight parking lots, but for anything else, it is a joke.
