Default Just experienced problem coming home CODE P0304: Cylinder4 misfire

Car was driving fine on the highway doing 70mph, trying to accelerate and it would not change gear, kept the rev up. The Engine light started blinking and the car started driving funny, not accelerating smoothly, shaking at low RPMS, barely idling. There was some sort of smell, hard to describe, near the exhaust but nothing too loud. Car was not heating up and nothing else seemed to be a problem... Since I was so close, I got the car home and plugged it to OBD handheld device I have had for my jeep.
Code P0304 came up which is Cylinder 4 misfire.
Anyone experienced that?
Could it be as simple as a plug or plug wire? What's the worst case?
Can't do anything tonight but tomorrown AM I either need to drive to my shop or have it towed there?
Suggestions? Thank you in advance.

Year and model would be helpful.

Default Could be many things - Plug, plug wire, coil pack...

Similar thing happened to my son's A4. It was the power output stage. Very easy fix, but the part can be pricey.

You can troubleshoot by swapping parts from cylinder 4 around to see if the problem follows the part.

Default Head gasket or cracked head? I think a vital clue here is 'the car was not heating up'........

other than that, I go with plugs or coil pack.
