they prob found a cheap fix using current lcd screen

actually it appears that they do not fix the lcd screen but only the console. Straight from the ModuleMasters website:

Description: These instrument clusters typically fail due to poor solder connections and corrupt data in the EPROM. Our rebuild restores your cluster to original factory specifications. (Does not include repair of the center LCD display, although we are working on a solution to this problem)
