It's been awhile since I've been on here, but I figured I would just post something relevant.
Just got an email from K&N, apparently they just make a replacement air filter and a 57i International Intake Kit available for the 1998-2001 Audi A6 with the 2.8s.
Check it out below.
I never used a K&N on my A6, I had a custom modification to the air box with the AEM DryFlow Synthetic Filter (Fully synthetic, no oil needed, better for your car). So I am only posting this for information use, not advising it at all.

It is simply an ITG oil filter in the OEM air box. During the first 6 months was great, even better gas mileage but now and the for the last 3-4 months has been killing me. I can't even average 20 mpg! So I took it off and put the stock filter and we are back to normal ~21-22 mpg. Overall $185 were wasted....or simply spent for only 6 months of better results.
