Default Keyless entry doesn't work. Has this happened to anyone else?

For no apparent reason the keyless entry on my '01 2.7T stopped working. The car is only 5 months old. The security system still works when using the key. I'm not home (the glamorous life of a Realtor - yes, that's almost 11:30 pm eastern time) so I can't check my spare. Has this happened to anyone else?? The key was not dropped, kicked, drop-kicked, soaked...

Default I have noticed that every now and then it takes a couple of tries to get it to work...

I use both keys, one during the week with work keys, and one on my days off.
Maybe if I had been useing one key this whole time it would have stoped working
by now. Maybe it's time for a new battery? Oh, and I've had the car for about 10
months.

Range has been fine. Worked same as new until tonight. I guess it could be the battery (?)

Hasn't happened to me, but apparently the remote can get out of sync. Check the manual.

Default Happened to me once and I took out the battery, reinstalled it, followed the manual to reset and it

started working. I had to do the reset procedure two or three times though. Removing the battery is a bit of a pain. I thought I might break the darn thing but if you follow the manual on that it will work.

Default I must be lucky... the thing has worked since Sept. '99.

The dealer said they'd replace the batteries when/if it quit working.

Default Not to flagellate an expired equine, but...

...make sure you do the resync right I almost went ballistic when my '00 did this and I couldn't get the remote to resync. I tried it "one last time" standing outside the car and realized the "unlock the door" part of the owner's manual means with the key, not with the door button. Worked great from then on....
