Default Indeed I do, sometimes. This morning going WOT from standstill turning right into traffic

in the pouring rain, the vibration was very noticable, but faded to a low enough level that I could convince myself it was gone, or was still there depending upon how hard I thought either way about it.

Worse in the rain, worse when it's cold out, worse when the car's cold, worse after hard cornering or sudden acceleration from slow speeds or a standstill. And then, just to be perverse, it sometimes comes out of nowhere on a steady cruise during the middle of a bright sunny day...

Default I saw TSB 's from Toyota and Mazda on the same issue..

Same problems. Load force balancing and a special centering hub for the Hunter.

Audi is far from alone on this.

Default Glad it has worked so far...but I must disagree, it is very common in the A6/S6 lineup...

It is very common for the service reps to deny that something very common is not...I've spoken to several Rector service reps about the vibration I had with both my Audis...in fact, one service guy there had six A6s/allroads with the same problem with vibration...and they hadn't been able to fix any of them yet (I was #7 and #8).

Default Were you able to get rid of the problem in either car, Pete?

If so, what was the solution?

Default Yeah, sort of...sort of not...

The new RS 6 wheels got rid of the majority of the problem with the A6...which was really much more of a sensation through the center of the car...not the steering wheel. Most people did not sense what I felt, so for most it was never a problem.
With the S6, it is in the steering wheel...but intermittently...very bizarre...the steering wheel shakes so it is not a perception issue...it is visible to anyone with any sense of sight...but for me it bothers me by what I feel...the wife, however, doesn't notice, which is nice since she drives it and it does not concern her enough to be without the car long enough to sort out the problem. The very strange thing is that it doesn't occur all the time and is not consistent based on the road I am on...it is very strange, but I am not able to devote any more effort into the solution as I don't really have time...and it doesn't bother her.

These vibrations is Audis are FAR too common and without permanent fixes. I love Audis, but no doubt before I purchase another, I will allow time for the new model to come out to find out if it is afflicted with the same problem.
In addition, it appears that the Touareg IS afflicted with the 2-3 second dead accelerator problem that affects many Audis, particularly the allroad. This makes me exceedingly less likely to purchase the Touareg...the Cayenne (which allegedly has the same transmission, but perhaps with different programming), and perhaps even the Discovery, the X5, or the GX470 are still in the hunt. I really like the look of the Touareg, but I will really have to test the transmission before I would get one.
