My Dad and his friend had raced 356s back in the 60s/70s so I was quite familiar with air-cooled.
Performed my first engine rebuild with that car and ended up with a nice little dual weber 1776cc screamer with stinger exhaust of course. Drove that car for almost 2 years and until it met it's demise as a T-bone steak for a big Dodge driven by an old man.
No worries though, as I was able to salvage quite a bit of the car outside of the shell and eventually transplanted everything into a 1954 VW Oval window with working semaphores.
Been toying with various cars ever since.

Holes in the trunk that caused the car to fill with clouds of dust from the sand on our winter roads. Come to think of it, my first few cars were abundantly holey.
