1st car I bought on my own was 1978 Datsun B210 hatchback with those black louvres!
the first car I drove was a 1969 Ford Galaxy 500 Station Wagon....no ac, vinyl interior, but I could pile in 10 of my best friends in the car and head to the beach!

1947 Chevy 2 dr Aero Sedan
WWII was over about 2 years. I had ordered it six months earlier. Dealers were hoarding cars at lots in the country trying to make the public believe that there was a shortage and accepting "under-the-table" money to deliver.
I complained to the dealer but to no avail.
We had a family friend who was a Federal agent (I forget what bureau).
My father took him along (w/o me)to try and get delivery. This guy just stood in the office doorway looking menacing while my father told the manager that he'd seen the lot full of cars in the country and might report it to the OPA (Office of Price Administration). The guy appeared to be unmoved.
The very next morning I got a call from the dealer announcing that my car had just arrived. It came with radio and heater. My father suggested that I accept the undercoating job.
Oh, and I had them add another accessory....a Fram oil filter. So I paid list but nothing more, except that the service in those days was a joke. The warranty was 90 days or 4,000 miles.
Price: $1561.04 with just enough gas to get to a station. Earlier in the year because of a shortage of steel, cars were being delivered with wooden 2x6 bumpers which were replaced with the real thing later.
I traded it in 1951 for a 1951 Chevy.

I inherited a '76 AMC Matador Wagon, w 5.0 engine, 3rd rear facing seat, plastic interior. >
complete with oxidizing red paint, boy was that car a bomb!
I may have had the biggest POS in the lot, but I always had it full mostly with chicks going to lunch everyday.
It looked something like this only in RED.
