Default Though it's actually designed for a Euro plate.
There actually is a US plate mount that requires bumper drilling for the RS6.

No way in hell I'd drill an RS 6 bumper. I won't even do it for the 4.2, thats why theres a ticket in my pic

I haven't mounted a front plate (that sounds a bit weird) on a car in the last 10 years.

Note too that even the rear plate sheet metal is different - and of "poorer line" than the Euro version.
