Default The less expensive 2004 4.2 A6 may be cheaper because...

I said here last week that Audi are going to price the 2003 4.2 at $46,900. I believe that they will delete the passenger seat memory and tip controls in the steering wheel. (at least as standard). I took a 4.2 for a test drive today and I realized another way Audi may be saving money in order to drop the price for 03. It has been reported that the Allroad is to get the 4.2 and that Audi had to modify the engine to make it fit it the standard A6 engine compartment, the 4.2 having a different front end than regular A6's.

If so then maybe the modified engine will be fitted to the A6 4.2 with the standard front end, thus saving Audi the expense of building a different front end for the low volume 4.2. As the S4 is also going to get the 4.2 maybe the modifed engine also gets used there as well????

This would allow Audi at least an excuse for dropping the price by nearly $3,000.

Default HP2 brakes?

The 2.7T lost them in 2002, will the 4.2 in 2003?

Default Isn't the big change that they moved the crank pulley to the rear to make it fit into the

S4? They moved something to the rear of the 4.2 to put it in the new S4, I remember that much.

What type of brakes are on the '02 2.7T? They are not the same as the 3.0's.

Default really!? so how do you service the serpentine belt if the pulley is where the power output is?

do you have to drop the tranny do change the belt? isn't there a P-car where the motor has to be pulled to do the timing belt or something..?

The original 911 Turbo (76) had to have the engine out to change spark plugs!

Default That's kind of cheap

removing the passenger seat memory. (I assume it would be an option somewhere along the line )
