So I made the hike early this morning to drop off my 03 for its 20K for service--pleasant experience and was given the keys to an 02 A6 3.0q crystal blue with 30K on the clock. So off I go to top off the tank and make the 75mi. drive home.
It is hard not to notice the details of a car for hour plus drive. It was filthy, beat, and stinky. Out of character for my dealership. I swear to god there was puke on the B-pillar (I told myself it was just an ice cream sunday gone amiss). The coolant temp gauge was jutting past the center, and the oil was almost at 250 while driving 65-70. The suspension felt like it was gone. The car is trashed.
I had the same car a year ago with only 10K on it. It was fine then. People that get loaners and abuse them are base. Yes, its fun to thrash around, but these aren't Chevy Cavaliers...don't let your kids throw things, drop your cigs and burn holes, carry your dogs and rip the leather. Maybe I'm just too much of an Audi fan, no Audi deserves this. The dealership should clean up too. The engine bay....bad
I had a few moments before my meetings this morning. I wiped down the driver's seat with Audi leather cleaner, and used my cockpit cleaner on the parts that are used to drive. You wouldn't want to see the rag. I'm not going to gripe (I know I should) because I'm one of the few that get Audi loaners--my gripe is with the hogs that don't clean up.

turn-around and they warn the customer.
You are right though, that is why dealers don't offer loaners very often. It's an entire seperate service to keep them clean and running properly and untrashing them as much as possible. It's amazing to me how in the hands of one owner, a car will seem almost new at 30K, while in the hands of many people who don't care, it will seem to have 100K.
Never buy a loaner!!!!!!

I shouldn't have had to clean up a dealer's car but I can't stand filth--nor do I want my suit to have it on either. Especially after getting out of our cars, which are at least cleaned weekly.
Bad part is they sell these cars too. The poor schmuck who gets this car.....

The loaners are usually sold at a massive discount, and their past life is usually disclosed. Those schmucks should have an idea of what they are getting, but some people can't see beyond the purchase price.

It was clean enough (certainly not spotless) but it had a good deal of vibration that you could feel through the seat.
