Lock Carrier Service Position - Paging 4Driver4
As far as the nose goes, service postion is the way to go. You'll still need to remove the front bumper, but once you have removed the bumper and the mounts behind it, you can disconnect the upper radiator hose, unbolt the radiator support/lock carrier and pull the whole mess forward to get better access to the belt. You'll want to stick something like threaded rod, the bumper bolts or even screw drivers into one of the bumper mount holes on each side so that the whole mess doesn't fall off.
Expect to spend the better part of a weekend doing this. Take your time and be careful.

Also, Bentley doesn't say anything about having to disconnect the radiator hose...is that just for the TB Service?
Thanks for any help. I promise to take lots of pictures and post a lock carrier/aux fan switch DIY so no more mechanic noobs keep asking about this.

It would be nice to have a few pics of this...
First remove the bumper (two long bolts below the headlights, 3 nuts each side along the fenders)
Remove the two bumper brackets.
Take the two long bumper bolts and screw one each side into the holes for the bolts that held the brackets on.
Unbolt rad support. Undo upper rad hose (allows you to move support out further). Pull support toward front of car, sliding it along the bumper bolts.
Does that help?

Do you mean take the long bolts that screw in vertically through the impact absorbers you remove when taking off the bumper (we did remove the bumper this weekend) into the holes where Bentley says insert the 3369 support tool.
In other words, remove the impact absorbers and use the long vertical bolts for the carrier to slide on?
