Default long term (75K+) reliability issues with 2.8 12v

Have any of you with 2.8 12v with high mile experienced any issues with the engine reliability? I've got a a4 with 65K that has burned 1qt/1330miles. Any guesses at the long term issues related to that problem?

Default With 106,000 miles on my A4 2.8 12v ...

I sometimes have to ad oil. It only seems to use oil on long trips in hot weather. Never more then a 1/2 quart in 2,000 miles. I belive it has to do with how the car is broken in. I did change the oil after the first 1,000 miles.

I have 77K 2.8 12v that does not burn any oil at all. The drive train is like a rock.
