Whether he has that code in stock, is another question.
A couple of the other guys on D2A8 have been to his shop, and I know where it is (got there too late one day, everyone was gone).
Will post a link later.

Have you just considered going back to ZF for a fully remanufactured (shell is the only thing they return used)transmission?
Current 98 A6 5hpfla is about 3400 with shipping of yours and the new one to you.
I can't imagine that the distributor (3 days if they have to rebuild yours because of no stock)cannot cut you a deal. The dealer on mine wants 4980 plus service fees plus labor (1900) to install. That is on a less expensive TM, of course but you can see where I 'm going with this.
ZF Distributor in California is DOSE transmission in San Diego. I spoke with the guy and he seems very knowledgeable.

and start swapping over as many drivetrain parts and interior pieces as possible. Then you would only have to fight with the engine controller and body controllers to get them out of limp home modes. I think with a little CAN work, some ECU knowledge (from a guy who works down the street), and about 10k of up front money, it could be done in a few weeks. Maybe when I get mine paid off I'll give it a shot. It would give a lot more latitude for doing power enhancements to the engine knowing you wouldn't be destroying the trans.
