Default Lower chrome grill border?

I've searched and can't find what I'm looking for...maybe I'm just nuts...but, I see A6's that have the lower grill with chrome around it. It looks factory, but mine doesn't have it. When I say that, I mean the rectangular section below the front license plate mount...

Is there a part number I can take to audi and buy that? What does it normally run? And how hard is it to install?

Default Check the tech section

I believe there's an article in there that describes a DIY version using some window trim and an exacto knife.

Default pre-facelift (>'01.5) did not have chrome trim

the trim from newer models does not fit the older.
see audiSean's post - I added the trim but you can't really tell on silver.

Default Try to source a Euro Blackout grille, that would be your best option...

otherwise I would try painting it. You'll need to sand off the existing finish first, it will be hard since it's a delicate piece.
