Default MAF Sensor with 16487 VAG code

Having an acceleration problem that VAG has pinpointed to the MAF sensor with code 16487. Signal too high. No warning, it just started after refueling. Car stumbles as when attempting to accelerate. Nursed it home. Removed MAF. No debris. Filter and inlet good. Car ran fine and strong just before it began. Looking for feedback.

Default A little left field, but is your fuel cap tightened all the way (2-3 clicks)?

If you have access to a Vag-Com, try clearing the code and see if it comes right back.

GO to Autozone and buy some MAF sensor cleaner. Try that first before you buy a new MAF. Know another Audi owner with same engine? Trade MAFs to see if it's really bad.

Default I hope it's not bad gas

Sounds like it.

I believe I ruled out bad gas. I have a VAG COM. Tried resetting several times after cleaning, and also checked the gas cap. Code immediately returns. No luck. Car runs fine with MAF disconnected. Looks like a new one is in order. Thanks to all for the feedback. Gene
