Default Major belt change: serpentine

What's the avg mileage you all are having this most expensive of servicing done on your cars? I've got 64K on mine now and am nervous about having the belt snap and destroy the engine....on the other hand, I've had Toyotas previously I ran into the hundreds without changing the belt.....what are your experiences?
Thanks,
John

Default You mean timing belt change.

I do mine every 75k. Others do less. Time is a factor too. If you do 10k per year, you should do the belt sooner.

Default My drive belt (serp) is going to be due at 70k...

per my trusted indep. shop, at the 60k service they said it should be good for 70k but probably will be time then (that will be when the car is nearly 6 yrs. old).

As to timing belt, they recommend doing it before 90k, they think 105k is too long, and that 60k is too short; anything in the 70-90k range sounds right to them dep. on the owner's risk tolerance.

Since my car has an extended srvc. K til 95k or so, I'll probably do it around 80-90k.

Even older Mercedes-Benz with their robust timing chains were subject to wear, there is/was no factory replacement interval but no M-B tech I've ever met who know what he was doing recommends going more than 100k or so before changing those M-B timing chains. So 80-90k out of a "mere" timing belt isn't that bad; compare the cost of an engine.

Same here. Belt looked fine at 80K. No cracks at the teeth base(s). At 64K, I'd wait.
