Default how do you clean the rest?

It shouldn't be rocket science, but I've never done it before. Do I throw the mats in the washer? Use carpet cleaner? Mine are getting very dirty.

Default Carpet cleaning

- Remove the carpets.
- Spray them liberally with Resolve carpet cleaner until the carpets are pretty well soaked to the touch.
- Take a medium bristle scrub brush and scrub the carpets thoroughly.
- Wait for the carpets to dry.
- Vacuum the carpets.
- Put them back into the car.

I do this in the spring to remove the winter grime and the carpets look new again. I have a dog and three cats. Resolve works miracles on hairballs and dog barf! Audi carpets are a cinch!
Charlie

Default I am Pigpen

I find that carpet cleaners just seem to leave sticky residue which attracts more dirt... Does Resolve do this too?

I got darker interior to combat the rainy season when some friend (or myself) tracks in mud and stuff. A big problem during Ski season.

My current Parchment Interior (same as Audi Melange) in my Acura is a pain to keep clean.

Default Or...

You could spring for the all weather mats from Clair. They're great and match the interior perfectly. Pull 'em, hose 'em...good as new. My OEM mats got used for about 1 week and probably won't get used again. I like the all weather's much better. LOL.

Default I've been thinking about the all weather mats for winter and OEM for summer.

Default Re: The very easy fix, don't laugh it works...

We have two cars with the putty tan leather, an Audi with Melange interior, and a BMW which they call Parchment... I read this on the Mercedes board.. The easiest fix I've discovered over the years is to take a spray bottle, mist the carpets liberally with the water residue, wipe generously with a dry cloth back and forth or I've even done it with a paper towel too... It actually works and takes >5 minutes.. No heavy carpet cleaners that leave a sticky residue. Rub the carpet enough times and most of the grease and dirt comes off...

Default Re: Carpet cleaning

I'll second the Resolve! I've had my 2.8 A6 exactly one week now, and today my daughter barfed lunch down the side of the seat and onto the carpet. "Strawberry Passion Awareness" Fruitopia, ham sandwich, and Reese's Cup. Yuck!! Resolve got it all out of the carpet, and a damp towel cleaned the leather.

So much for that new car smell.
Debbie in Avon
