I just placed my order and decided against the Ming Vanilla after seeing it. Initially I had thought that the combo would be unique, but the blue dash was a little too much to swallow. Settled on Black/Melange. Ming/Onyx would be a great choice. Good luck.

You asked about this in the thread you started on 8-12. I posted a picture of a Vanilla/Royal Blue interior, and several folks including myself gave you very favorable comments about Ming Blue with Tungsten Gray.
If you're still undecided, your best bet is to go to a dealer and see them in person. This is something that only you can decide.<p>mpuzach

Seeing it myself is what I'm trying to do. I get different stories from all the local dealers. My Audi sales guy says melange is the only scheme that looks good, the vanilla combinations being too loud to tolerate.
He's out this week, but when I spoke to another sales guy there (@Anderson-Behl), he told me vanilla/royal blue (which I planned to change to) is different between 2000 and 2001 and really doesn't look as good anymore. They have a B.Black/melange demo on the floor.
So, I figured I'd try another dealership. The Palo Alto sales guy steered me hard-left and said ming blue/tungsten grey (which I decided to change to after v/blue got shot down) is a combination Audi shouldn't offer because it looks like a Pontiac Bonneville. He gave me this line about "not being able to sell [me] a car like that with a clean conscience." He did have a black/melange to sell...
Of course, melange is the interior I see on all the models and I particularly *don't* like its brown-ish tints for a blue car. I love ming blue, though.
I suppose I don't feel very comfortable not being able to see what I'll get. The sales folk are pushing melange HARD, like everything else sucks.
There are only 4 interiors for ming blue. Van./Royal blue, Van./Onyx, Melange and T.Grey. I find it hard to believe that Audi would ship 3 unpalatable combinations.
Maybe I need to spend some time trekking to distant dealerships this weekend. They may have different models to show.
Never spent $55K on something I haven't seen before...
Thanks for all your help!

I thought it might be tough to look at the Ming/Vanilla for several years. I set out to get a Ming blue but just bought a Cashmere Gray/Melenge after spending time with both combinations.

I have ming/ vanilla&blue. I was also worried about the look as well as the wear/soil. All I can say is that I think it looks rich-leather is same color used in Mercedes S-class and Jags. It is holding up beautifully. Other A6 owners have given multiple compliments. Be bold! Aren't you sick of black?

I drove a '98 (on a BMW lot) a little over a year ago that was Santorin Blue w/Vanilla & Royal Blue and it was beautiful. There's also a white '98 in the parking lot at my office with this interior. It was a popular choice with silver as well. But, when I was seriously looking for a car there were none around.
I ended up with Melange (Jaspis Green ext.) and it's just fine. The vavona wood and pearl aluminum look great with melange.
