This is probably a dumb question but my 2000 Audi A6 is missing screws for the rear license plate. I was wondering where the best place to get some would be? An Audi dealer or the hardware store? They look like they're really short.

i actually had the same problem, especially after removing the dealer frame too. i got screws at Lowes in the section where they have the thin drawers - look for the automotive fastener section. the one problem is they don't have any short enough, so i bought rubber washers to put on the back of the license plate and they fit perfectly (you'll have to tape the rubber washers on just to hold them while putting the 4 screws in).
also, if you took off the plate in front and were left with 4 big holes in the bumper, you can get plugs - again at Lowes in the automotive fastener section. they are black and match perfectly - assuming your car is black. i think i got the 1/2" diameter, trimmed off the plug part cause it wouldn't fit, and then used black caulk to attach them. it's about $1.20 for 4 plugs.

i believe they were 10 mm long x 6 mm dia.
Of the screws they had of that length, there were about 3 widths, and i believe it was the middle width-almost 1/4". i suppose you could take the plate off and stick it in the rear window so you could take one of the existing screws with you into lowes to compare. i just happened to guess right - but you have to get the rubber washers if you don't use a frame.....good luck
