Default Momo sphere shift **** for VW/Audi?

I've recently been looking at the Momo sphere for my A6 and notice that there is a generic version and another specifically for VW/Audi. I called to ask about it and told the salesman that my current **** was a screw off and he was surprised. He said the VW/Audi **** was a notched **** that slid on and was not a screw on. So my questions are:

Are most Audi's NON-screw on? I would guess so since the one model was designed for VW/Audi and it's not.

Would I be better off going with the generic version? I know one Audi user here also had a screw on, bought the VW/Audi version and made it work but I'm wondering if the generic is less of a hassle.

For those that bought the Momo sphere, did you keep your existing boot or by a new one?

Thanks for the responses.
