More cat issues

So the day after I pick up my A6 from the dealer after having one of the cats replaced (under warranty), the CEL comes on. I take it back to the dealer and he says the other cat needs replacing! Now, technically the other cat was out of warranty when they replaced the first cat, my car had a bit over 80K on it, yet they were able to cover that under warranty. The dealer says they won't cover the 2nd cat as the car is over 80K. I thought it would be covered under my certified warranty (which ends this month) but not so. They quoted me $1700 to replace it! My question is, has anyone had any experience with the ECS universal cats? Any thing special to know regarding their install e.g. in relation to the O2 sensors?
Thanks
J

Here is my experience... 2001 A6 81,000 miles. CEL came on, dealer said both cats were bad, not under warranty, over 80,000 miles.
My research - Both cats will fail if they are poisoned by a defect in the induction system, ie. defective engine coolant temp sensor, which in my case had been replaced several months earlier.
First, did you have any component of the induction/ ignition / computer system fail and be replaced under warranty?
Secondly read your warranty carefully, the 80,000 mile figure is a federaly mandated "minimum". There is nothing in the legislation, that I could see, that prevented a dealer or manufacturer from giving "more" than a 80,000 mile warranty. If your CPO doesn't specifically state that the warranty on the cats is limited to 80,000 miles then it is warrantied to 100,000 (or whatever is stated in your cpo). Many "standard" CPOs have quite different wording.
My dealer replaced both cats, at over 80,000 miles. I gave him a choice, either replace them or I go to small claims court.
(and what are the chances that you might get a judge that at one time or another gotten screwed by a car dealer). Plus the dodge that they use of an federaly mandated limit is, I think, strict B.S.
And yes, I brew at home too, don't you pity the poor slobs that only drink coors or bud?
